Protected spaces in Tazacorte

Barranco de Las Angustias

This is the natural outlet for the waters of the Caldera de Taburiente. Puerto de Tazacorte is located at the mouth of the ravine of Las Angustias. The top of the ravine, that borders the National Park of Caldera de Taburiente, contains forest communities that play an important role the preservation of soils and water extraction. Its steep slopes contain one of the best examples of rupicolous habitats of the Canaries Islands, with a high concentration of endemic flora and many endangered species. In the riverbed, the outcrop of the basal geological complex provides an additional geological interest because of its importance and uniqueness.
As a whole, the ravine of Las Angustias is a geomorphologic unit of great scientific interest and landscape value, contributing elements of panoramic richness where small hamlets harmonize with the landscape.
